We aim to protect and develop those elements of culture that signify
the identity and distinctiveness of the Cornish Nation, including our language, heritage, history, literature, music & dance and sport.
BK calls for investment from Europe, Westminster and Cornwall to professionalise and modernise the 60 organisations that are members of BK so that Cornish citizens and those who choose to work in or visit Cornwall can learn more of our rich history and culture and participate in the growing number of festivals that define how the Cornish people relate to their very special environment.
Bewnans Kernow was established in 2008 at the request of Cornwall Council to enable the indigenous Cornish Cultural Sector to engage with the Cornwall Cultural Partnership.
During 2009 a mapping exercise, funded by Cornwall Council identified over 50 Cornwall-wide organisations delivering content on indigenous Cornish culture from a wide number of sub-sectors.
